Be A Part Of History At Phoenix International Raceway In February Largest Multi-Cultural Gathering Event Ever For A NASCAR Race

Great Way To Enjoy The Big Race & Celebrate Black History Month

(PHOENIX, Ariz.) – Rev your engines! Black History Month is this month and Phoenix International Raceway along with Talking Stick Resort and Casino and the Second II None Motorcycle Club – Phoenix Chapter are offering a unique opportunity for you and your family to celebrate it with their “Checkered Flag Run.” The Run is a first-of-its-kind event that offers a weekend’s worth of activities including raffles/giveaways, picnic hosted by Hacienda Harley-Davidson in Scottsdale, parties, one of the most recognized DJ’s in the country, races and more for motorcycle enthusiasts. The event kicks off on Friday February 25th and roars until February 27th, the day of Phoenix International Raceway’s race. More than 100 African-American motorcycle clubs from across the country have been invited to participate in the inaugural Checkered Flag Run. The event is offering $50,000 in cash and prizes and will include special hospitality and parking for participants at Phoenix International Raceway; including a bike show judged by legendary bike builders Paul Yaffe of Bagger Nation, Brian Klock of Klockwerks Kustom Cycles, and John Shope of Sinister Industries. A performance by renowned DJ Kid Capri at PIR is also highly anticipated. Several limited edition motorcycles have also been donated as raffle prizes for those that register and participate in the Run. On the morning of the race day, the event participants will undertake a road rally from Talking Stick Resort and Casino to Phoenix International Raceway.

“All of this can be enjoyed for just $35, perhaps the best bargain of the weekend” said founder, Alan M. Powell.

“It has been a privilege to work with Phoenix International Raceway in recent years to increase its outreach to minority communities. Now, we aim to take the next step during Black History Month with what we hope will be one of the largest multi-cultural gatherings ever at a NASCAR race,” Powell said.

Powell said that while leading African-American motorcycle clubs across the country have been invited to attend all of the Checkered Flag Run’s, festivities are open to all races and ethnicities.

“Experiencing a NASCAR race at Phoenix International Raceway is one of the great spectacles in all of sports. We want even more people to enjoy the extravaganza,” Powell said.
